NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

THE FOLLOWING SWEEPSTAKES IS INTENDED FOR PLAY IN THE 50 UNITED STATES AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA ONLY AND SHALL BE CONSTRUED AND EVALUATED ACCORDING TO UNITED STATES LAW.  DO NOT ENTER THIS SWEEPSTAKES UNLESS YOU ARE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER, OWN A DOG OR A CAT, AND ARE A LEGAL RESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

The Purina Pro Plan “Do More for Pets” Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") starts at noon Central Time on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 and ends at 11:59:59 A.M. Central Time on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Sweepstakes sponsored by Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, Checkerboard Square, St. Louis, MO 63164 ("Sponsor"), and administered by RMA, Inc., an independent judging organization.

ELIGIBILITY: Offered only in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia to legal residents of the U.S. who own a dog or a cat and, at the time of entry, are 18 years of age or older.  If an entrant is under the age of majority in his or her state of residence (21 if a MS resident, 19 if an AL, NE, or PA resident, 18 in all other states) entrant must obtain their parent’s or legal guardian’s consent prior to entering or submitting any personally identifiable information.  Employees of Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, production and judging agencies, including RMA, and their immediate families (spouses, children, siblings, parents) and persons living in the same household of each, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter.  This Sweepstakes is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations.  Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

HOW TO ENTER:  NO PURCHASE OR INTERNET SERVICE SUBSCRIPTION IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.  Two ways to enter: 1) Visit the Sponsor’s website at www.proplan.com between noon Central Time on January 1, 2008 and 11:59:59 A.M. Central Time on December 31, 2008 and follow the online instructions, or 2) Print your name, mailing address, date of birth, and daytime phone number on an 8 ½” X 11” piece of paper and mail it along with your essay (and optional photo) to: Do More For Pets, P.O. Box 8255, Westport, CT 06888.  All entries must comply with the ENTRY REQUIREMENTS specified below.

All entries must be posted or postmarked by 11:59:59 A.M. Central Time on December 31, 2008. Limit one entry per individual, household or e-mail address.  Mechanically reproduced, automated, repetitive and/or programmed submission of entries (including entries using any script, macro or sweepstakes services) will not be accepted.  If you submit more than one entry, only the entry that is posted, received and processed first will be eligible. In the event of a dispute as to who submitted an on-line entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address. The authorized account holder is the natural person or organization assigned to the e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization, or the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

All entries, essays, and photographs ("Submissions") become the property of Sponsor, which retains all rights, including, but not limited to the right to copy, edit, modify, adapt, publish, and/or use any Submissions in any way and in all media without limitation forever.  No correspondence about entries will be entered into, nor will essays or photos be acknowledged or returned. If required information is not included, entry will be disqualified.  Sponsor is not responsible for late or incomplete entries.  Sponsor and RMA may prohibit you from participation in the Sweepstakes if, at their sole discretion, you show a disregard for, or attempt to circumvent these Official Rules, or act: (a) in a manner that affects the administration, security, fairness or proper play or conduct of the Sweepstakes in any way; (b) with an intent to annoy, threaten or harass any other entrant or the Sponsor; or (c) in any other disruptive manner

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:  Your entry must include an essay of 250 words or less, in English, describing how you do more for pets.  You are also encouraged, but not required, to submit a photo of you and your pet.  All Submissions (including the photo) must be the property of the entrant and must not infringe on any third-party rights.

Photos submitted by mail can be any size, in color or black & white; photos submitted electronically must be in JPEG or GIF format with picture dimensions no smaller than 800 x 600 pixels and a file size not larger than 400 kilobytes (uncompressed).

PRIZE:  One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a one-year supply of Purina® Pro Plan® brand Pet Food for one pet; awarded in the form of twelve manufacturer’s coupons good for either: a) twelve 20-lb. bags of Pro Plan® brand Dog Food (max value $341.88), or b) twelve 8-lb. bags of Pro Plan® brand Cat Food (max. value: $255.48). There will be no substitution or exchange of this prize except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.  All applicable taxes and expenses, related to the acceptance and use of a prize, including sales tax, are the sole responsibility of the winner.

WINNER SELECTION: On or around January 14, 2009 one Grand Prize winner will be selected at random from among all valid electronic and mail-in entries received between 12:00 noon Central Time on January 1, 2008 and 11:59:59 AM Central Time on December 31, 2008, including those mail-in entries postmarked by December 31, 2008.  The Grand Prize drawing will be conducted in Westport, Connecticut by RMA whose decisions are final and binding. Odds of winning will depend upon the number of eligible entries received.

WINNER NOTIFICATION:  Grand Prize winner will be notified by First Class postal mail on or before January 31, 2009.  If a prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. 

AFFIDAVIT AND RELEASE:  As a condition of being awarded a prize, the winner will be required to complete and return to RMA within 7 days of notification, a signed Affidavit of Eligibility, Publicity and Liability Release.  If a winner is considered a minor in their state of residence, a parent or legal guardian must sign, and return Affidavit and Release on minor's behalf.  In the event that an Affidavit and Release is not returned within the specified time period, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected at random from among all eligible entries received.  Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes permission of such winner (or, if a resident of a jurisdiction that deems winner to be a minor, winner’s parent or legal guardian) for Sponsor to use, without notice or further compensation and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media now known and hereafter devised including, without limitation, on-line worldwide, such winner’s first name, last initial, city and state of residence for purposes of advertising, trade, promotion, and publicity. 

GENERAL CONDITIONS:   Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.  By entering this Sweepstakes, participants agree: (a) to be bound by these Official Rules and all decisions of the Sponsor and RMA, which shall be final and binding, and (b) that the Sponsor, its parent companies, affiliates and subsidiaries, their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes, whether caused by website users, tampering, hacking, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes; (2) any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or unauthorized access to the website or in any material associated with the Sweepstakes; (3) any injury, damage, or loss to participants’ or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in this Sweepstakes or downloading materials from, or otherwise using, the website; (4) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (5) any design, typographical or other errors in any materials associated with the Sweepstakes; (6) garbled, illegible, incomplete, damaged, misdirected, late, lost, postage due, undelivered, or unprocessed entries; (7) any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsor which may cause the Sweepstakes to be disrupted or corrupted; or (8) any loss, injury or damage of any kind caused by participation in this Sweepstakes, or by the acceptance and/or use of any prize. 

If for any reason this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, or if this Sweepstakes or any website associated therewith (or any portion thereof) becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper playing of this Sweepstakes and processing of entries per these rules, or if infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, in the Sponsor’s sole opinion, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, the Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual implicated in such action, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Sweepstakes or any portion thereof.  In the event this Sweepstakes is cancelled, the Sponsor reserves the right to conduct a random drawing to award a prize from among all eligible, non-suspect, entries received for the applicable drawing prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation. 

Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any third party's failure to act in accordance with Sponsor's instructions pertaining to the implementation of this Sweepstakes.

By entering this Sweepstakes you give your consent for Sponsor to deliver your entry material and/or personal information to RMA and/or other sweepstakes administrators as required for the purpose of administering this Sweepstakes.  Only Sponsor, RMA and such other sweepstakes administrators will have access to the personal information.  Information will be used in accordance with Nestlé Purina PetCare Company’s on-line privacy policy.  For information regarding Sponsor’s on-line privacy policy go to www.purina.com and click on “Privacy Policy”.
