Savor® Adult Chicken & Rice Formula

Have been feeding this to our 4 year old Jack Russel Mix since she graduated from puppy food. We loved this food up to the last bag purchased. The chicken bits used to be little chunks of Chicken. Sadie would eat the soft chunks then eat the hard kibble. The new bag does not really have chunks of chicken but little strings/shreds of chicken. Sadie leaves this on the bottom of her bowl, and on the floor. I am going to start looking for a new dry dog food now. It is too messy and she does not enjoy it as much anymore. I would have been willing to pay a little more and keep the chicken chunks!Date published: 2014-03-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Mary110 from Excellent Product My spaniel/dachsund mix started on the puppy version when we brought her home and switched to the adult version over a year ago. She really enjoys this. The new packaging threw us for a loop and when the staff at the local Petco could not explain if Savor is the same as the ProPlan my dog has enjoyed these past few years, I finally wrote the company to find out what was the closest to the silver version we had been buying. They kindly wrote back to assure me that Savor is the same ProPlan my dog loves. She especially enjoys the flavor and finds all the kibble and chicken chunks to be great fun as she readily eats her dinner when it is set before her. Her long coat is also very shiny and healthy. Thank you, Purina!Date published: 2014-02-11Rated 3 out of 5 by Cendy from GREAT FOOD BUT GETTING VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!!!! Why in California are we paying $43.99 for our 35lb of food! Are you trying to get the breeders to find another food to start feeding our dogs.... PetsSmart is $43.99 and they claim its Pro Plan and Pro Plan claims it's Petsmart!! Why in the mid west they pay $39.99!! You know us breeders talk we know how much the food cost!! Maybe we just need to start looking for another food to start feeding... We have been feeding Pro Plan for over 20 years and maybe if Pro Plan can't do something about the $$$$$ ASAP we need to start looking for a quality food that is cheaper!! The food is just getting to $$$$$$$$!!!!!Date published: 2014-04-25Rated 1 out of 5 by Jenn from Not so good We started feeding this to our black lab/pit mix with the puppy formula when we got him at about 12 weeks. At first he seemed to like it because of the chunks of meat but slowly he stopped eating it and would sometimes only eat the chunks and leave the kibble and by the time we switched him to the adult food late last year he would not eat it. Once I started doing research to find a new food I found that this food is not as good as I originally thought. We pay a little more for his new food but he loves it.Date published: 2014-02-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Jocko from Dogs like it I must have 3 awful picky Boxer's. I bought Science Diet for years but a while back they must have changed formulas as my dogs didn't want to eat it any longer. I even bought the more expensive Ideal Balance and they didn't like it. After trying several other brands I finally have found one that they like and that is Pro Plan Savor.Date published: 2014-05-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Raey from SHE LOVES IT!!! She loves this dog food. I adopted her through a rescue group, and they were feeding her Blue Buffalo. I talked to my vet who does not recommend Blue Buffalo because they didn't do any clinicals and have no vet on staff. I know several of the people at the vet clinic feed Pro Plan. My vet receommended this food.Date published: 2014-05-02Rated 5 out of 5 by sandy22 from My dogs love it! My dogs love the food. Any has the stamp of goodness from my most picky eater who can't get enough! And for a great price :)Date published: 2014-02-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeff from Mild enough for sensitive stomachs. We've used this for years. One of our dogs, although built like a small tank, has a sensitive system. This works well for her, as well as the other two who like the shredded formula. I know, they're dogs. They'll eat bugs and dead things. But you can help judge a food by how it comes out, as well as how they like it. We like this.Date published: 2014-02-11

The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily.FEEDING WEANING PUPSStart puppies on dry or moistened Pro Plan as early as they begin to nibble at solid foods, generally 3-4 weeks of age.FEEDING GROWING PUPSFeed pups (to six months of age) all of the moistened Pro Plan they will consume at intervals throughout the day. If fed dry, Pro Plan may be kept before pups at all times.FEEDING FOR REPRODUCTIONPro Plan provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's ideal body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLANAlthough you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.
