Need some help completing your dog show bracket? This year two-time college football national champion, first round NFL draft pick and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow is helping us out in his off-season to be our official “Barketologist.” Tebow – and his seven-year old Rhodesian Ridgeback Bronco, have made their champion picks for the 2018 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

The Barketology

Hound Group

It’s no surprise that Tebow’s pick for the Hound Group is the same breed as his faithful companion, Bronco. The Rhodesian Ridgeback has only won the Hound Group once, but its affectionate personality is definitely a crowd-pleaser.

Toy Group

Tebow takes the Maltese in the Toy Group, the group known for companion dogs. The Maltese has an impressive Group competition record with 5 wins, but the breed has never been named Best in Show. Maybe this is its year?

Non-Sporting Group

The Non-Sporting Group is the most diverse of the seven, making it a tricky one to pick. Tebow is putting his faith in the dignified Dalmatian who has won the Group 8 times but never taken a victory lap around the Best in Show winner’s circle.

Herding Group

Tebow knows winners, and his pick for the Herding Group shows that. The German Shepherd Dog has dominated the Group with 17 wins and has enjoyed the overall winner’s circle twice.

Sporting Group

Another popular breed, the Pointer is a Group favorite with 14 Group wins and 3 Best in Show trophies.

Working Group

The Working Group consists of dogs with jobs and Tebow’s pick of the Boxer is a dog with a job of winning. The breed has taken the Group title 24 times and been named Best in Show Champion four times.

Terrier Group

The Terrier Group has had more Best in Show Champions than every other Group. Tebow’s choice, the Parson Russell Terrier, may be athletic and clever, it has never had a victory at WKC. Talk about underdog pick.

Best in Show

It’s clear where Tim’s loyalties lie, as he picks the Rhodesian Ridgeback as his Best in Show Champion.
