  • A life saving food

We rescue Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers and currently have five of our own, including a lab/golden mix. We also foster and transport for GRRAND (Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption of Needy Dogs out of Louisville, KY) so we have had up to seven dogs at one time. It seems many of the dogs we foster (and often end up owning) have skin issues from years of neglect, poor diet, or allergies, and Pro-Plan Sensitive Skin formula has been a life saver for many of our trusties, as well as our own companions. We have seen hair and skin go from patchy, red, and dull to clear and shiny in just four-six weeks. Skin dander has also been greatly reduced or eliminated in almost all of our charges. Our one little girl with skin allergies would constantly chew her feet, bite at her skin, and lick excessively causing lick granulomas. Pro-Plan and allergy pills have completely stopped the excessive behavior but it took both of them to put her on the mend. The allergy pills helped but the excessive licking did not totally stop until the vet put us on P-P Sensitive Skin formula. That is the only food we feed our pack now. My only complaint, like someone else has mentioned, is that going through roughly 100 pounds of food every 5 weeks, since the reduction in bag size from 33 pounds to 30 pounds, with no reduction price, we now have to buy 4 bags every 6-7 weeks instead of three bags every 5. We are very disappointed in this move.

    • Works with Pets Professionally
  • Works as well as prescription food!

My Newfoundland has food sensitivities (allergies) to many foods. The veterinarian prescribed a food. While it helped with allergy reactions, my dog skipped meals. Pro Plan Sensitive is the only "over the counter" food which doesn't trigger allergy responses and my dog loves it. Nobody wants to pay more for less food, however, compared to prescription diets, this is still a bargain. I hope Purina doesn't lower the price and lower the quality. Value isn't only about the lowest price. It's about what you get for the cost compared to what else it available. From this standpoint, Purina Pro Sensitive remains a tremendous value.

  • Great product for my Great Danes sensitive stomach

This food was a life saver for my Dane. About 7 years ago she developed irritable bowels and lost a ton of weight, going from 150 lbs. down to 96 lbs. before we were able to find a food that she was actually able to eat and digest normally. It literally saved her life! She still has bouts of diarrhea occasionally but with this food and some occasional medication she lives a pretty normal life. Zoe will be 12 in Nov. and over the last year has slowly had a decrease in appetite and very rarely eats dinner anymore. Today I had to go buy some more food, and noticed that the bag was smaller and then remembered that I had read about some changes to the food so I just assumed new formula means a little less food per bag. There is no way I would attempt changing her food just because the bag contains 3 lbs. less of the food. Anyway, I always put her food out at dinner even though she very rarely eats it anymore. Today, I did the normal. Put her food out, filled her water bowl and told her to come eat. I watched her and she smelled the air and immediately jumped up and went to her food bowl, sniffing the air the whole way there. She ate it all, even licked the bowl and looked at me like, can I have some more! Apparently these new ingredients smelled and tasted good to her and she couldn't resist. Hopefully we can put about 20 lbs. of her recent weight loss back on her, which would make me and her veterinarian very happy! Thanks Purina, for possibly helping my elderly Dane to be interested in dinner again!!!

*Using a standard 8 oz/250 ml measuring cup which contains approximately 112 g of Pro Plan.

We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight.  The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment.  But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily.

Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food.  Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively.  This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily.

For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.
